Most people asking us about an accessible bathroom aren't asking for a hospital room. They're asking for a bathroom that a parent can keep using safely, or one that will still suit them for life without a second renovation.
Done well, nobody walking in would describe it as an accessible bathroom. It just happens to have no step, a floor that grips when wet, a shower big enough to help someone in, and walls that will take a grab rail wherever it's needed later.

Step-free shower
No hob, a linear drain and a graded floor. Safe to walk into, easy to wheel into, and it looks like current design rather than a modification.
Noggins behind every wall
Even if you don't want rails now, we block out the walls at strip-out. Adding a rail later is then a ten-minute job, not a re-tile.
Slip-rated floor tiles
P4 or P5 rated tiles in the wet area. Textured enough to grip, smooth enough to clean.
Wider door, ideally a slider
A 900mm cavity slider gives walker and wheelchair access and gets rid of the door swing at the same time.
Comfort-height fixtures and lever tapware
A taller pan and levers instead of knobs make a real difference to anyone with arthritis or reduced grip.
Fold-down seat and hand shower
A wall-mounted seat plus a rail-mounted hand shower means the bathroom works whether you're standing or seated.

Planning ahead beats retrofitting
The cheapest accessible bathroom is the one you build while you're renovating anyway. Noggins, a step-free shower, a wider doorway and slip-rated tiles add a few hundred dollars at build stage. Retrofitting the same things later means opening tiled walls and re-waterproofing.

If you have an OT report, bring it to the measure. We'll build to the recommendations and note them against the quote so the paperwork lines up with the funding body.
We're licensed and insured for residential work (Licence 393475C), and we'll provide the itemised documentation most support schemes ask for. We can't advise on your eligibility, but we can make sure the quote is in a format your assessor can use.

Measure, design and written quote
We measure the room, check the drainage and what's behind the walls, then give you a scaled layout with every fixture listed and a written price that holds once it's signed.
Strip-out, rough-in and waterproofing
Back to frame, licensed plumbing and electrical rough-in, then waterproofing to AS 3740 photographed at every coat. Same crew, same start time, swept down before we leave each day.
Tiling, fit-off and handover
Tiling, glass measured off the finished walls, tapware and joinery installed. Then we walk the room with you, fix anything you pick up, and hand over the certificates and a workmanship warranty.

Yes, by recessing the floor between the joists to create the fall. It's more work than on a slab, but it's a standard job for us in older Western Sydney homes.
Not any more. Current rails come in brushed nickel, matte black and brass to match your tapware, and some double as towel rails. Set into a properly blocked wall, they look intentional.
Yes. Bring the report to the on-site measure and we'll quote against its recommendations line by line so the documentation matches for funding.
Absolutely. Blocking the walls out during the build costs very little and saves a re-tile down the track. It's the single smartest thing to do if you plan to stay in the house.
